VLAN tagging is broken on tg3 interfaces in RHEL 5.8
Issue: Interface with VLAN tags stop working after upgrading to RHEL 5.8.
Environment:
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.8
- kernel-2.6.18-308.el5
- tg3 module version 3.119
- VLAN tagging
Resolution: A fix is being developed and expected to be included in RHEL 5.9, and also proposed for inclusion in the RHEL 5.8 z-stream.
Root Cause:
Update of tg3 kernel module to version 3.119 introduced a bug which affected processing of packets with VLAN tags.
The packets go on the wire untagged and are ignored by other hosts using the same VLAN ID.
